FAQ

"I have debt, how can you help ?"

We understand how easily, people fall into debt, and we don’t judge you – we want to help you get out of the pit of debt, with your help.  Please note that we do not offer financial assistance, we offer help, where you take control of your obligations, and get out of the burden of debt.

We sit down with you, look at your case and show you how to get things organized.  We often find that clients say, that it comes as a huge relief, to have CAP staff come along side, to share their burdens.

"What happens next ?"

When you contact us, we will organize a quick chat, to let you know who we are and how we can help.

During this conversation, we show you what options are available, how we have a good reputation with banks, lending institutions and debt agencies, and how it is possible, in some cases, to freeze processes to allow customers more time to repay debts.

When you have had an opportunity to hear what we have to offer, only then do we ask if you would like to join the programme. You remain in control, and we do not oblige you to do anything, you are not comfortable with.

Should you require some time to talk to a friend or relative, we encourage you to do this. Please also note that we do not ask for, or receive any form of commission or payment from anyone for this service. This service is funded by private donations, from mainly Christian people and organisations, who do this in the name of Jesus Christ, to show His love for our neighbour.

"If I decide to go ahead, what happens next ?"

We ask you to assemble all the information we need, from bills, reminders or notices of proceedings, and other relevant information.

We pass all this information to our HQ in Bradford, where our experts get to work.

Please be assured that this process is treated as confidential.

The team contacts each of your creditors, to inform them that CAP is now dealing with your case.

CAP has a good reputation, and this allows use to negotiate, on your behalf. Creditors are generally receptive to our requests, and it is possible that we can obtain favourable conditions for our clients.

We then discuss how we can proceed, with a suggested repayment plan.

"What is a repayment plan?"

When we have analysed your situation, we will suggest a repayment plan, tailored to your income.

If you accept the plan, we can put everything in place.

You make one payment to CAP, and our admin office make payments to each of your creditors, relieving you of the stress of making payments on time.

Providing that you keep payments on track, you will reduce your debt, over time, until you finally become debt free.

How long will this take ?

This is entirely dependent on the level of debt, how much you can afford to repay and your personal circumstances.

Every case is different, and repayment timelines will differ, your Debt Coach can explain everything.

"If you don't get any commission, why are you doing this?"

Christians Against Poverty, as the name suggests, is an organisation who are funded by Christians, who want to offer people, the opportunity to climb out of debt.

Their donations fund our offices and staff, so that they can help clients, showing the love of Jesus Christ.

Our Debt Coach will outline our principles, in a genial manner, so that our clients can see for themselves, that these are services offered without any strings attached.

Some clients express an interest in learning more about Christianity, and we will offer suggestions and help.
